Terms of business and website use
Last updated 24 October 2026
These terms explain how Headland Yachting Limited (“Headland Yachting”, “we”, “us”) works as a yacht charter broker, and the terms for using headlandyachting.com. Headland Yachting Limited is registered in England and Wales, company number 17532233, registered office 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX.
1. Our role as your broker
We’re an independent charter broker. We help you find a suitable yacht, check its availability with the yacht’s central agent, ask for a hold on your dates and help you through the booking.
We aren’t the owner or operator of any yacht we offer. Your charter contract is between you and the yacht’s owner, or the central agent or charter company acting for the owner (the “supplier”), usually on a standard industry form of charter agreement. We arrange the contract on your behalf, but we aren’t a party to it, and the supplier is responsible for the yacht, its crew, its equipment and the charter itself.
We’ll always tell you who the supplier is and send you their contract before you sign. Please read it carefully: it sets out the charter fee, what’s included, payment dates, cancellation charges, the security deposit and the supplier’s own responsibilities.
2. Information about yachts
Descriptions, photographs, rates and availability on this website and in our proposals come from suppliers and central agents, including through the Central Yacht Agent (CYA) system. We take care to pass them on accurately and keep them up to date, but we can’t guarantee them, and availability can change at any time until your contract is signed. Rates are usually in US dollars and may exclude expenses, taxes, cruising permits, fees and crew gratuities; the supplier’s contract is the final word on price.
3. Holds and confirming a charter
A hold (sometimes called an option) reserves a yacht for a short time while you decide. It isn’t a booking and doesn’t commit you or the supplier. A charter is confirmed only when you’ve signed the charter contract and the supplier has received your deposit.
4. Payments
Deposits and balances are paid as set out in the charter contract, usually 50% on signing and the balance before the charter starts. [To confirm with Headland Yachting: whether payments go directly to the supplier or through a Headland Yachting client account, and how those funds are protected.]
5. Changes and cancellations
If you need to change or cancel a confirmed charter, the supplier’s contract sets out the charges. We’ll help you contact the supplier and do what we can to reduce the cost. If a supplier cancels or changes your charter, your rights are against the supplier under the contract, and we’ll help you exercise them.
6. Insurance
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance from the moment you book, covering cancellation, medical costs (including evacuation) and, between June and November, named storms. For bareboat charters, ask us about insurance for the security deposit.
7. Bareboat charters
For a bareboat charter, the supplier will ask for details of the skipper’s experience and qualifications and may decline a booking or require a paid skipper. The skipper is responsible for the yacht, its crew and their safety throughout the charter, under the supplier’s terms.
8. Our responsibility to you
We’ll act with reasonable care and skill in arranging your charter. We aren’t responsible for the acts or omissions of suppliers, crews, airlines or other third parties, or for events beyond our reasonable control, such as weather, storms or government action.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t be limited by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer. Otherwise, our liability to you is limited to the commission we receive for your charter, and we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential loss.
9. Complaints
If something isn’t right, please tell us at hello@headlandyachting.com as soon as you can. During the charter, please also tell the captain or the charter base, so they have a chance to put it right.
10. Using this website
You may read, share and link to our pages for your own use. Please don’t copy substantial parts of the site or use it in a way that harms it or other people’s use of it. The text, images, design and logos belong to Headland Yachting or are used under licence. Links to other websites are for your convenience; we aren’t responsible for their content.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings there. The charter contract is governed by the law it states.
